Our Story

In 2018, with a shared vision of creating a different kind of salon experience the three of us decided to become salon owners. We purchased the KINshoppe Salon and kept the brand going until 2026 when we decided it was time to truly make the salon our own vision. We reimagined our brand and AKIN Salon Collective was born. The name felt like the perfect combination of who we are and what we’ve spent years building together.

This name means Similar in quality, character, or nature. A reminder that while we each bring our own style, strengths, and creativity, we’re connected by shared values and a commitment to growing together.

From the beginning, we’ve believed in a salon rooted in collaboration, education, and genuine connection. Our collective of independent beauty artists works side by side, sharing knowledge, supporting one another, and continually elevating our craft. Every detail of our space has been thoughtfully designed with both stylists and their guests in mind. From natural light and lush greenery to spacious stations, a large break room, and an outdoor patio, we’ve created an environment that supports your well-being while helping you deliver an elevated experience for every guest.

What truly makes AKIN different is our culture. While every stylist runs their own independent business, we believe collaboration is more powerful than competition. We work together to care for our shared space, invest in continued education, and support one another through every stage of business.

We are excited to continue enhancing our brand, and creating an even better space for our guests and salon professionals.
